One peaceful minute in Grambois, Provence

Grambois, tucked away in the southern Luberon valley of Provence, is somehow still wonderfully quiet in August - the peak of summer tourism.

While the better-known villages of the region are at the busiest, here I didn't pass a soul in the streets. Honey-toned stone, old shutters, vines heavy with grapes and views stretching out from the ramparts. Nothing but the song of cicadas.

Grambois is one of those villages that makes you wonder how everyone else missed it.
