Wednesday in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence

Take a moment to saunter with us through the cobblestone streets of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence on a Wednesday morning. Market day here spills across the entire village, filling each square...fountains bubbling, people weaving through stalls of produce, cheeses, and linens.

Tables are covered with the season's harvest: garlic heads spread across the wood, baskets of mushrooms, crates of figs, apples and freshly picked grapes. Olives come in every shade of green and black. The olive spread is one locals claim to be the best in Provence.

Woven baskets line the streets in every color and style, some sturdy for shopping, others handbags. Stalls are layered with Provençal fabrics, sunflowers brighten the corners, small olive trees are ready to be taken home and marbled olive wood cutting boards catch the morning light.

A guitarist serenades as market-goers drift by...the soundtrack to a morning that belongs entirely to the market.
