The Inspiration Behind the Jardin Collection

Some of our tablecloth prints are pared back; our Jardin collection is about abundance.

The design was inspired by the gardens at Giverny, and more specifically, by the way the color exists there. Nothing stands alone. Flowers overlap. Petals brush against leaves. Hues collide and then settle and find harmony. The effect is layered, slightly wild and intentional, without feeling controlled.

That feeling is translated into this print. Jardin is dense with detail - expressive, but soft. It carries the sense of being surrounded by growth, rather than something carefully arranged.

The video above looks at the same print in three different color variations. Each colorway shifts the mood of the table.

We love to set a square cloth on a round table; it allows the print to breathe. The border acts as a frame for the pattern, like a painting on the table. With Jardin especially, the border plays a real role. It finishes the composition and gives the table a sense of intention.

The Jardin collection was never meant to be precious. It is meant to be lived with - used outdoors, indoors in the cold months, layered with simple ceramics or mixed with color.
